My feet are killing me at the moment

Well, life at Joann’s goes on and still I am not doing framing as I want to do.  I am convinced now that Nev, the head framer, doesn’t want me to be in framing  but is too nice to say so to my face.  Her idea of framing is probably not the same as mine, in that we don’t see the same colour qualities in a frame – she sees green – I see rusty orange  she sees a cloud of dust and I see a speck which isn’t worth worrying about!

Anyway, yesterday, she had no option but to leave it to me, as she was leaving early as she wasn’t well.  I didn’t think much of it as I was on the cutting table as usual and thought if anything, someone with a completed frame order is all I would have to deal with.  (if I was a customer, I would wonder if anyone actually worked there, its always so empty, but then I am one of those ‘awkward customers.)

Well I was wrong!  I thought I  had coped well until I had to use the computer system, To give Nev, her due, she has tried to explain the details of the program Joann’s uses.  It has to be the most unuseful system in the whole PC business.   The long and short of it, the customer had to wait a long time and she was a darling ( I would have left , hming and haaing, saying I wouldn’t be coming back for a long, long time!).  I had no back up as the MOD hasn’t been trained in framing and I ended up doing it 3 times before it was correct however the frame and matting choice was superb, of course.

Today was another day!   I  finally decided to get a photo collage of my eldest daughter’s framed.  I wanted it to be cheap and simply, in the end it was not cheap (even with a 50% coupon) but it was simple.  I did it during my lunch break.  I was, as usual, at the cutting table and it was incredibly quiet, as no doubt everyone is waiting for the patterns to be on sale on Thursday. So I decided to say to Karen that I was going to framing to continue my (non existence) training in framing.  So for the next couple of hours I got to work in the frame shop.  It was probably not a good idea, not to tell Josh, the manager, as its sort of undermines his authority but to be honest, that was what I was hired for, so if he doesn’t like it, he can fire me.  But he won’t as I am too useful covering the cutting table.

So that is my day at Joann’s the shine has gone but I will stay with it, as I quite enjoy talking to the customers about their projects.  However, home is another thing. I realise, things are different but I am becoming increasingly annoyed with the lack of anything being done by Gordon. He has even lost interest in the garden ( which is the big no no with me).  Every evening this week, he has done bugger all around the house whilst before I go to work, I make a good effort to do something, even if its the cat’s litter being emptied. I am tempted to see how long it will before he does the washing but unfortunately I will probably need something before that happens.   It will works itself out but this time I wll not give up my job. He wanted me to work and although its not the best job in the world, I’m actually enjoying it.

  1. No point in waiting fopr things to get done and then being “hurt” when they aren’t as you suspected… would be the case… life is short…if you sleep with this man, had his kids ythen you have the tight to say… “this is what i want and expect” he won;t like it…but if you persevere it is better than being passive aggressive…expecting disappointment and nowing it will come…he may puff and pant ans be rude etc…but it is a clean way of doing things… at least it was for me. Take care Jacqui
