Just a brief post. We had a wonderful time at the concert in the Park, very relaxing, just listening to the music. By the time the concert started, the evening temps had dropped to an agreeable level with a slight breeze, about 85f (30c). Below is a small video I compiled of the concert.

Before the concert we ambled through the artist work on show. One vendor that caught my eye was Puppet Artists. They created puppets of famous people or characters and the work was brilliant. I was tempted to buy one but opted instead for a pendant from this lady, Sally Wade. Her work was beautiful and I could have bought a whole load of stuff but had to settle for just one piece.

Today has been just a relaxing day with the kids, Elisabeth came in for the day. We discussed her current situation and for the next few months we will be looking after her dog, until she settles into her new apartment and hopefully new better paying job in the fall. Until then we have said we will help out as earning $8 an hour, she just cannot cope, even doing more than 50 hrs a week.
Thankfully, she has a better future to look forward to but can’t help feel sorry for the people who are stuck in jobs like that for good part of their future. There are a number of people in my store in their late 50’s or early 60’s having seen their pensions wiped out by the current economic situation who know they are looking at being in poorly paid jobs like that for the foreseeable future. Very depressing!
