and I was seriously tempted to call in sick, as I have a mountain of things to do before we leave for Scotland on Monday. But only last night I commented to Gordon, that I wouldn’t make a special effort to clear up as the the kids are here on their own for 10 days, so it would probably be as bad once we got back. Not that I am bad mouthing the kids as I know that both of them are working, Alan full-time and Emily part-time but she is also studying for a credit at ACC. As long as the dogs and cats are fed and watered that is all I really want them to do. Of course, Gordon wants the grass watered but if he is lucky they might manage it twice in that period. However, his luck might be in, as the weather seems to be on a verge of a breakdown and the triple digit heat of the past weeks, might be replaced by cooler, wetter weather. Must admit I am pig sick with all this hot weather and its not even JULY yet! Then we got all of August and September to get through….god! I hate hot,hot weather!
Well, I am in the “Zone” at work today. Basically, I have 7 hours of picking up after customers and their kids as they drop things at their arses. I also have to seek and pester said customers. Must admit, when I go shopping, I avoid associates like that, so as you can imagine, I am not good at that kind of thing. I love being able to help someone when they are obviously looking for something, but being a customer as well, I know I am always on the look out for that pesky associate on the prowl. As soon as I spot them in the corner of my eye, I move, briskly in the opposite direction and then go back to the place I was. I am the customer from HELL, really.
Tomorrow, I am in the frame shop for another 4 hours which is great. I am beginning to think I am getting over the hurdles in that place. I am noticing the difference between a Kristan design and a Neve design, one is more classy than the other and one has a better eye for colour ( it might be the person or might not be
). I am getting use to the register and the PC system for framing is half way there! Tomorrow Neve is in to complete a special order and she is bringing in a drawing she is working on at home. I am really excited about that as she show me another of her drawings on Monday and it was stunning, really beautiful. Apparently this drawing is a recent one so will be representative of her current work. I am really curious what it is going to be like.
Any time to go and smile to the customers, pretend I love their kids even when they are screaming and pretend I love their ideas. Actually most of the time I do love their children as most of them are really well behave and why shouldn’t I love a person creative idea, I am just glad they are being creative and not moping in front of the TV or PC. Oops that me!

Enjoy your holiday in Scotland. At least the weather will be cooler there!
