(a gecko) which Gordon observed in the garden on Tuesday evening. Our garden is a wreck but its a haven to these little creatures

Nothing much else is happening. The weather is still hot but there is hope in the near near future of rain and lower temps. This is now the 3rd hottest summer on record for this area. If it gets to 100 today (it will apparently
) that will be the 49 days so far this summer.
Back to work for a few days after our lazy birthday week and I must admit I didn’t miss work at all! Today I have off and I should be doing housewifely things but I think I will confirm Gordon’s idea of what I do with my time by going to visit the Blanton this afternoon. They have an excellent exhibition on at the moment called Exquisite Visions of Japan: Prints from the James A. Michener Collection of the Honolulu Academy of Arts It closes next Sunday, so I don’t want it to be yet another show I meant to see but don’t. I must admit I got a bit techy last night when he implied I didn’t do anything during the day. Given the house is a wreck at the moment and in need of a major clean I can see his point but to say it when I had been working for 8 hrs with only 30 min break for lunch, not a good time to make a point. Especially at 11pm and very tired! So now I have got it into my head to be as lazy as possible today but I still need to do the washing, shopping, dishes and maybe the carpets.
Next week, we take Emily back up to Denton for the beginning of the new year at UNT. We will probably have some lunch and then come straight back but via an exhibition of Impressionist paintings at Fort Worth’s Kimball Art Museum. which are on loan from the Art Institute of Chicago. That will be my shot in the arm for art work for the next few months.
This morning I was up at the crack of dawn rather unexpectedly. Gordon had gotten up earlier than usual to give a ride to our eldest daughter to the airport for her trip to San Francisco. The last thing I said to him was ‘make sure she has her ID with her.” and he did. Unfortunately he didn’t demand visual proof, so the call at 6.20am ( her flight was at 6.55 am) was daughter, asking if her wallet was on the kitchen island. It turned out it was actually in her car, tucked between the driver’s and passenger’s seats. Fortunately we have a spare key in the house, so there was me at 6.38am flying down the road. Obviously she missed her flight but as it was so early in the morning and middle of the week, she was able to get another flight. Well, this just confirms she may look like Gordon’s side of the family but she definitely takes after my side for having her head in the clouds

Sweetheart, housework is always there but art and beauty and those things must be seen and taken into the heart.]
Any partner, husband or wife who does not understand that…???
You can sort a house out in a few hours, but never have those hours back where you could be seeing something beautiful like a sunset or dawn or a flower or art… listening to music,… whatever is your poison
