at the moment but actually its not really the current political/economical woes.
No, its more related to me and my body, my uterus to be honest! I finished the provera that the doctor prescribed yesterday but I nearly finished it earlier on in the week when I was having some unpleasant side effects from it, like insomnia despite taking sleeping pills, bloating, some blood sugar issues, constant heartburn and a general depression. I really was in 2 minds about whether to take it but the thought that it might prevent a major operation got me through it. Let hope it works! Hopefully I will get an ultrasound next week and see what the outcome is.
In the meantime, menopause has come back with full vengeance. The hot flushes are striking all the time but particularly at night. Even with the cooler nights (its actually getting down to the low 60’s) the duvet is up and down like a yo-yo.
Work has been fine apart from the fact the provera has made me moody plus the hot flushes hit at any time, which makes for a very frustrated woman! Nothing nicer than serving a customer and suddenly the urge to strip down because I am so hot, is almost unbearable.
Fortunately for the most of the last week I was in framing but tomorrow and Tuesday I am at the cutting table from 11-7pm.
It better not be like Friday, as by 6.15 pm, I was feeling particularly tired when a woman decided to get in a shitty about the price of a fabric. I was having none of it and stood my ground, politely but firmly, of course, ( who in their right mind thinks 99c would be right price for all the fabric). She stormed off in a huff to see if her charges had got an alternative fabric and by the time, she came back, she had obviously seen I was right but wasn’t admitting it. Just at that point, Eileen, the other cutter, said she was starving and hope whoever it was coming on shift would turn up so she could go for her meal break. I said I needed a break too but at least, I had managed to get my 30 min break as it was only one I had since I had arrived at 11am. It was a casual remark, in reply to someone else, but obviously, it made the the woman I had been serving, realised she had been shitty with me, so as she left, she actually thank me (I had even given her the 40% discount on a length of fabric for signing up for joining the mailing list) and sorry I had only 30 mins break that day. Fortunately, I was able to go for a 5 min break and so the last 30 mins of my shift wasn’t too bad but tomorrow I am going to make sure I get my two 15 min breaks because you need them when you are doing an 8 shift on the cutting table, especially when it was busy as it was on Friday.
Remember the garage and Gordon’s project to organise it? Well, wonder of wonders! He has actually finished it and it only took him about 18 months to complete. Actually I am one for not completing tasks. This was the filing pile in Feb 2007

and to be honest its no better now!
Anyway, here is what the garage looks like tonight.

Hasn’t he done a brilliant job!

Are you really only entitled to two 15 minute breaks in an eight hour shift? That’s terrible-sounds like slave labour.
I was amused by your description of the hot flushes because I’m having them too and our duvet is up and down all night as well.

They are plus the 30 mins unpaid lunch break. If its busy however, you will need to be forceful about having the breaks. Yesterday, I managed to have one of the 15 mins plus my lunch but with the lines going around the cutting table and again, it wasn’t possible for anyone to have a break in the pm.
