Since I last wrote on the 7th July, we booked and have been to France! It had always been planned that we would go to France sometime this year and then all my medical issues came up, so it seemed in doubt. As soon as I knew I didn’t need a hysterectomy though we decided to just go. Fortunately, Mum and Dad were OK with the idea and so on the 31st July we arrived in Paris. We had an amazing 2 weeks there and it was so good to see my Mum and Dad. Over the next couple of days I will post some photos, we took a combined total of over 500, so there should be some good ones there somewhere.
Mayenne, the first town we stop at after Paris.
Had a glorious lunch there.
Bicnic, a small town on the north coast of Brittany.

Now however, its back to Texas and its heat! Going to France has only confirmed for us that the US is not going to be part of our lives in a few years time. I can only hope the kids see the light and move back to Europe but we are definitely going back when we can. I cannot bear the thought of living in this country for the rest of my life. Don’t get me wrong, I love the American people (well, the few I know) but to be quite honest, I hate the whole ‘everyone for themselves’ attitude over here. There is no sense of community here. We had in Scotland and my parents definitely have it in their little part of France but here everyone is too busy for community.

We have good community spirit up here in MA but like you, I can’t see me getting old and dying in America. Unfortunately the rest of the family can.
